Organizations
Roles and Permissions
Understand the different roles in an organization and what each can do.
Roles control what people can do in your organization. Here's a breakdown.
The Three Roles
Admin
Admins have full control:
- Create, edit, delete any calendar
- Add or remove members
- Change member roles
- Modify organization settings
- Assign other admins
- Delete the organization
Use this role sparingly—only for people you fully trust.
Organizer
Organizers manage events:
- Create and edit plans on any calendar
- Manage RSVPs and attendees
- Moderate chat and comments
- Cannot modify organization structure
- Cannot add/remove members
Good for event coordinators and team leads.
Member
Members are participants:
- View all calendars
- RSVP to plans
- Comment in chat
- Cannot create plans (unless you enable it in settings)
- Cannot invite others
Good for regular participants.
Changing Permissions
Permissions can vary by calendar too:
- Go to a specific calendar settings
- Scroll to member permissions
- Customize what this person can do on this calendar only
Example: Someone might be an Organizer on the "Events" calendar but just a Member on the "Budget" calendar.
Best Practices
- Keep admin count low (2-3 people max)
- Use organizer for people who plan events regularly
- Use member for everyone else
- Review permissions every few months
